Mission

Our Mission

To provide top quality, specialist, confidential counselling within the bounds of safeguarding for young people in our region.

Strategy Overview

Our Strategy

For over 30 years we have been providing counselling support to thousands of young people. In 2019 we faced difficult times with the Covid Pandemic and its knock-on effects of the current cost of living challenges. Young people in particular have faced many uncertainties, enormous changes, and disruptions to their lives. In turn, we have seen not only an increased demand for free confidential counselling but also an increase in the severity of referrals with more families reaching crisis points. To meet these changing times we are currently developing a five-year strategic plan. The focus of our new strategy is fivefold, designed to ensure that we meet the new demands, grow our organisation so that we can offer more specialist counselling to more young people in the coming years.

Growing our service

  • Increasing our capacity for more counselling sessions.
  • Investing in clinical supervision, staff training, and database analysis.
  • Supporting more counsellors in training.

Extending our reach

  • We are growing the geographical areas that we work in, starting with a Portsmouth Counselling Project funded by Portsmouth City Council (via HiWCF).
  • Increasing awareness among underrepresented groups, and encouraging them to access our service.

Streamlining our Service

  • Investing in IT system and Website improvement.
  • Enhancing data pathways, reporting systems, and accessibility of IT for counsellors and staff.
  • Invest in fundraising resources to grow our income streams and future sustainability.

Improve and Maintain our center

  • Continue to invest in our centre, maintaining the counselling rooms, office, and other spaces to provide a welcoming environment for staff, guests, and clients.
  • Investing in resources and staff training for the center.

Adapt to the Specific Needs of Our Community

  • We have seen an increase in referrals related to neurodiversity and we want to increase our specialists in this area.
  • We are also seeing an increase in more severe cases, and we want to continue to keep our waiting times short.
